The CLIMB Center, formerly known as the Central Portland Workforce Training Center, is a 31,000-square-foot classroom and office facility which overlooks the Willamette River in the city’s industrial core near OMSI in central eastside Portland.
The three-story structure was built in 1996 for $4.4 million thanks to the passage of a bond measure in 1992. The facility has a 158-space parking lot and is near many of Portland’s largest streets and freeways. The center houses a 100-seat auditorium, 18 classrooms, and 2 conference rooms, which is set up for groups to hold meetings and seminars.
Architects from the Zimmer, Gunsul, Frasca Partnership designed the building that includes a red brick façade and features a design of expansive windows on the southwest side, which highlights an open, circular staircase.
