Over the course of his long career, Michele Russo (1909-2004) developed a signature, calligraphic painting style characterized by angular lines and flat washes of color. Most frequently, he focused on the female form; the prints in the Rock Creek collection exemplify his approach to the figure. Russo, who taught for many years at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, is represented in major museum collections around the country. He graduated from Yale University and moved to the West Coast shortly thereafter.
