This collage was purchased with funds collected by PCC Rock Creek Art Students at the time of Parson's show at the Helzer Gallery in 2006: Eunice Parsons at 90. The title of this work refers to the artist Arthur Dove, (American, 1880-1946), who was a pioneer of the collage form, and a favorite artist of Parsons. The postcard in the middle is not by Dove but by another artist, Charles Demuth, whose work, Homage to Gertrude Stein, would easily dominate the oval shape were it not for the strong black and white stripes Parsons had placed both above and below which connect on a diagonal through the Demuth, animating the design's bold zig zag. This collage is as dramatic as a flag.
