Like the other two works by Joseph Mann in the collection ("Conversation" and "Sacred and Profane") this works presents two figures in a shallow, back lighted space. Here the technique of monotype echoes the painterly quality of the other works with a lovely pink blossom of light behind the woman's head and again a very contrasted handling of the two figures (the man is a solid dark silhouette where the woman is delineated with thick brush line and a strong red shape for her dress). The rolled ink shapes contribute to the sense of abstraction.
