This was painted on site from the bluff at the University of Portland overlooking the Swan Island shipyards and Fremont Bridge. The motif is similar to several related paintings in the collection, but this one has a flattened graphic style and muted, darkened colors. The title is reference to a 1979 James Bond film whose title is British slang for "simpleton." The implication is that when painting from the landscape it is best sometimes to be stupid, because ideas can be overrated and get in the way of seeing.
