This large painting was commissioned by students from ASPCC Rock Creek to celebrate the turn of the Millennium. The artist, Hector H. Hernandez, developed the imagery with input from ASPCC students (who also served as models) to create a phantasmagoria where Chichen Itza meets Mount Hood, Portlandia joins hands with an Aztec Bird God, Microelectronics patterns appear as stone temple carvings, and Building 7 gets repainted in candy colors. Such imagery of the ancient and modern is in the tradition of the Mexican muralists such a David Siqueros and Arnold Belkin, with whom Hernandez studied in Mexico City.
