Course Description
Covers the spirit, core skills and fundamental processes of Motivational Interviewing with an emphasis on practical application. Taught completely in Spanish. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Describe the philosophy and research that supports the efficacy of motivational interviewing.
- Identify the attitude, techniques, and strategies of motivational interviewing.
- Apply the method of motivational interviewing to a substance use counseling session.
- Evaluate a counseling session to determine its adherence with the method of motivational interviewing.
