Course Description

Focuses on the study of gestures, mime, and pantomime that accompany non-manual communication. Examines facial expressions, body movements, and handshapes that communicate meaning in ASL.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  • Use gestures, body language, facial expression, and space to improve visual communication.

  • Visually describe various sizes and shapes, surroundings and appearance of objects.

  • Exhibit varying degrees of emotions and different forms of non-verbal communications.

  • Use visual communication techniques to convey short stories, ASL Visual Vernacular and ASL Personification.
