Course Description

Provides an opportunity for practice and preparation in knowledge and skills that are directly related to Aviation Science 100-level airplane or helicopter flight courses. Areas covered include weather, flight planning, maneuvers, weight and balance, aircraft performance and lesson preparation techniques. Students must be enrolled in this class if they are working towards completion of a flight course.

Addendum to Course Description

This course is appropriate and required if the student is currently registered for, or working towards completion of a previously issued CIP in, any of the following courses:
AVS-115; AVS-125; AVS-135; AVS-145; AVS-155.

Intended Outcomes for the course

1. Approach each flight lesson knowing exactly what is to be practiced and what is expected.
2. Arrive at all flight lessons with the knowledge and preparation to maximize learning during the flight.
3. Be able to state their current point, rate of progress and the next steps in their flight syllabus.

Course Activities and Design

Exercises, video, quizzing and scenario-based activities will be utilized to achieve the stated outcomes. There will be a high level of student to student interaction.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Outcome will be assessed through a combination of oral and written quizzing, classroom activities, and progress in the related flight syllabus.

Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)

All classroom activities will be centered around the flight lessons that the student is currently working on at a level appropriate to the flight course that they are working on.
