Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
The Economics of Aviation course will introduce the students to business accounting procedures and how they are applied to a typical general aviation business, such as an fixed base operation (FBO). Students will also be presented with some basic fiscal and operational management techniques as they apply to aviation. Emphasis will be placed on the role of the pilot in the success of general aviation companies. Lecture/discussion/demonstration sessions supported by written and multi-media materials will present the students the information needed to accomplish this. Class participants will be expected to invest time outside of class to master the course content.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:
- Understand basic aviation accounting procedures.
- Understand basic management philosophies and how they apply to aviation.
- Students will be prepared to contribute to the financial success of a business.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
At the beginning of the course, the instructor will explain the methods used to evaluate and record student progress, and the criteria for assigning a course grade. Evaluation methods may include one or more of the following: Tests and quizzes, attendance, participation, class assignments, and class projects.
