Course Description

Provides further post-commercial instruction and PIC flight time in single and multi-engine aircraft for those not selecting the flight instructor option. Flight training fees apply and cover a specific amount of training; please see the Course Curriculum and Outcome Guide for detailed information. Co-requisites: AVS 207

Addendum to Course Description

The Professional Pilot course will provide students who choose the non-instructor route the flight time and experience to help them acquire a job in aviation. Advanced aircraft operation, instrument skills, and other areas covered earlier in the program will be refined. Standards in the aviation industry will be implemented throughout the training.

The following hours of are required to meet the outcomes for this course, and will be provided by PCC's contracted flight training provider under PCC supervision.  Outcomes will be assessed by written, oral and practical (flight) tests. Flight training fees for this class are based on these hours. If the outcomes for this course are met in fewer hours then listed here, unused flight training fees will be returned to the student or funding provider, as appropriate.

This course does not prepare the student for a specific checkride, and so no estimate for checkride or knowledge test fees is included in the flight fee.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:

  1. Understand the advanced procedures that will be expected in a professional cockpit environment.
  2. Demonstrate how to operate a single and multi-engine aircraft in a safe, professional manner.

Evaluation methods will include written, oral, and practical ground and flight testing.

A series of real-life scenarios will be assigned that required cross-country, commercial-standards flights in single- and multi-engine aircraft. Areas covered will include:
