Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
This course may be used as an elective or requirement for certain Associate of Applied Science degrees in the business discipline. The course is designed to provide a coordinated, supervised transition from course related business training to on-the-job performance.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:
- Identify learning goals and develop a work experience plan to meet the goals.
- Meet learning outcomes specific to this course, as mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor in advance through a written learning contract, and as appropriate to the credit awarded for this course.
Course Activities and Design
A. Students will select an appropriate work site that is approved by the PCC coordinator and/or instructor.
B. A work agreement establishing the duties and responsibilities of the student and the intended learning objectives will be completed by the student, the supervisor, the jobs/internships coordinator and the supervising faculty.
C. Evaluation of student performance will be conducted through student journals and reporting, student/faculty conferences, supervisor evaluation, and instructor visit to worksite.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Credit will be issued on a Pass/No Pass basis. Assessment will take place through student journals, student/faculty meetings, and work supervisor evaluation.
Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)
Learning Objectives will be developed and documented for each student and approved by the instructor. All students will have the opportunity to apply skills in a business setting, develop work experience and an understanding of the skills and demands of working in a business.
