Course Description

Introduces the fundamentals of using different computer software products to manage drawings and documents for a paperless construction project. Recommended: Basic computer skills. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Organize and manage PDF construction documents using appropriate software products.
  • Perform initial PDF setup in the chosen software product.
  • Create, organize and manage drawing markups independently and collaboratively.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

  • Students will process a set of PDF drawing provided by the instructor within the software
  • Students will create markups and demonstrate various software features on a sample PDF file
  • Students will create quantity takeoffs on a plan provided by the instructor
  • Students will create an online punch-list and then complete that punch-list using Ipad's for a real space near the classroom to simulate real-world use.
  • Students will complete quizzes provided by the instructor
