Course Description

Introduces the CAD-based software Chief Architect. Develops skills and vocabulary necessary to generate construction drawings and modify existing drawings. Recommended: Blueprint reading and basic computer skills. Audit available.

Suitable for both MAC and Windows operating systems.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  • Create, annotate, edit and plot construction drawings using basic Chief Architect commands and features.
  • Produce and print drawing files that meet construction industry graphic standards.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

  • Students will build a basic BIM model of a house using Chief Architect

  • From the BIM model students will produce measured floor plans and elevations 

  • Students will complete homework and or quizzes provided by instructor

  • Students will print drawings and create pdf type files of drawings they create
