Course Description
Covers formatting, proofreading, and editing to produce business documents such as professional reports, meeting & events materials, and business letters utilizing a variety of software technologies. Focuses on improving and increasing speed and accuracy of keyboarding skills for document production. Recommended: Placement into RD 115 and WR 115 or higher; OS 220; keying 40 wpm by touch. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- Use appropriate software to quickly and accurately produce business documents following professional industry standards.
- Use critical thinking skills to analyze information for production of business documents, and determine and integrate software technologies for the formatting structure best suited to convey information in a professional manner.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
A letter grade will be issued for this course. Assessment tasks include:
- Production tests on business documents
- Must also include at least one other assessment, such as:
5-minute timed writings at a speed of 45 wpm with no more than 5 errors ("C" level)
