Course Description

Introduction to Patient Access/Revenue Cycle. Students will delve into health insurances; learning about the different types from government to commercial, PPO to HMO. Included in this course is detailed information about healthcare laws, contracts and their purposes; basic medical billing and the claims submission process, review of insurance claim preparation and transmission. Students will receive an overview of requirements for Patient Access positions, different positions within Patient Access and will work with real life scenarios.

Intended Outcomes for the course

 Students will be educated in the workings of Patient Access which will help prepare them for a career in Patient Access.  This course also prepares students to sit for the Certified Healthcare Access Associate certification exam.
