Course Description
Covers advanced concepts in the clinical aspect of dental assisting. Continues exploration of dental specialties, public health dentistry and best practices management.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Recognize the various roles and responsibilities of auxiliary personnel as they relate to dental specialties.
- Recognize the procedural steps, armamentarium, instrumentation, and post-operative instructions for various dental specialties.
- Inform patients of available oral health products and their uses.
- Demonstrate responsible, safe, and effective methods for the disposal of hazardous waste following best practices management.
- Develop and present a community-based learning project focusing on oral health.
