Course Description
Covers advanced clinical training and practical experience in clinical dental assisting duties and responsibilities. Provides an opportunity to work in a clinic setting applying the principles and practices learned in the classroom.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Perform, at an advanced-level (entry-level employment), dental assisting chairside duties while utilizing safe methods and demonstrating professionalism.
- Follow post-operative instructions for various dental procedures and specialty treatments.
- Follow the procedural steps and use the correct armamentarium and instrumentation needed for temporary crown fabrication chairside.
- Demonstrate the delivery of whitening trays and provide post-op instructions.
- Demonstrate the use of an intraoral camera on a patient.
- Identify and chart intraoral dental restorations on a patient.
- Demonstrate the delivery and maintenance care of prosthesis.
