Course Description

Expands knowledge in dental hygiene theory and practice with a focus on patients with special needs. Emphasis on clinical considerations and modifications in dental hygiene treatment to provide evidence-based care for various populations.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Determine appropriate modifications to the provision of dental hygiene care to patients with special needs.
  2. Describe appropriate responses to emergency situations that may arise while treating patients with specific medical conditions.
