Course Description

Covers the application of integrated multidisciplinary learning in dental hygiene clinical practice. Incorporates laboratory skills into clinical patient care. Focuses on developing clinical competencies at the beginner clinician level.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in data collection and assessment at the beginner clinician level.
  2. Recognize and address special considerations in the provision of dental hygiene care.
  3. Implement the dental hygiene process of care.
  4. Formulate patient-centered treatment plans.
  5. Demonstrate preventive and therapeutic hand and ultrasonic debridement at the beginner level.
  6. Deliver patient education with cultural humility.
