Course Description
Provides a foundation for critical decision-making in the management of medically compromised patients during oral health care. Emphasizes precautions and treatment alterations for patients with medical complications and protocols managing a medical emergency.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:
- Recognize conditions that require consultation, referral, special precautions, or consideration prior to or during dental hygiene care.
- Plan critical treatment considerations or alterations requiring procedures to prevent harm to patients.
- Use appropriate responses in simulated emergency situations.
