Course Description

Covers the etiology, histopathology, and clinical manifestations of diseases and conditions of the periodontium. Explores the relationship between systemic disease, periodontal diseases and related risk factors.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Describe the clinical characteristics associated with periodontal health and disease.
  2. Describe pathological mechanisms responsible for periodontal tissue destruction.
  3. Recall risk factors in periodontal disease.
  4. Discuss risk factors in periodontal disease.
  5. Differentiate between periodontal conditions.
  6. Classify periodontal health, disease and implant health or disease.
