Course Description

Continues building upon Periodontology I by focusing on advanced topics in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical management of periodontal diseases. Examines the interconnections between the oral-systemic link and periodontal disease, guiding clinical decision-making in the context of comprehensive dental hygiene care.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Discuss skills used in comprehensive periodontal assessment.
  2. Discuss the oral-systemic link with periodontal diseases.
  3. Develop a comprehensive treatment plan for a periodontal patient.
  4. Diagnose periodontal diseases and conditions utilizing the AAP Periodontal Classification System.
  5. Integrate knowledge, skills, and critical thinking to analyze complex cases.
