Course Description
Student works on approved job sites and receives as varied and complete an experience as possible under job conditions. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
The student will be able to:
- Observe and recognize functions specific to the assigned job site.
- Successfully perform tasks relative to the work experience plan.
- Communicate effectively with associated co-workers, supervisors, and staff.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Evaluation generally consists of site visitations by the Coordinator/Instructor and a written evaluation by the Employer/Supervisor.
Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)
1.0 FIELD EXPERIENCE
Instructional Goal: Develop and maintain a field experience which is directly related to the student's college studies.
- Identify student and employer needs.
- Apply job acquisition techniques.
- Develop skills in negotiating a training package.
- Promote linkages between the employer, student and the coordinator/instructor.
Instructional Goal: The goal is to provide a smooth and beneficial experience for the student,employer, and the college utilizing a written agreement.
- Develop criteria for student attendance.
- Identify an evaluation of the student.
- Identify time commitments.
- Identify work performance.
- Identify employee remuneration.
- Identify the monitoring of student progress.
Instructional Goal: To provide for an evaluation of the field experience.
- Identify an evaluation completed by the employer.
- Identify the means to meet the objectives stated in the plan (learning objectives).
- An on-site/field experience is essential to the development of the student within a real world context.
- Graduates need to be able to communicate and work effectively with employers and related staff.
- Cooperative Education establishes a vital link between the college and the prospective employer.
The student will be able to:
- Communicate effectively with employer using various methodologies.
- Demonstrate competency while performing assigned field experience tasks.
- Successfully complete the written agreement forged between the student and the participating employer.
