Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
At the completion of this course, the student will have working knowledge Caterpillar Machine Electronic Systems.
The student will be able to:
§ Explain the function and test the electronic components in Caterpillar machine electronic control systems.
§ Identify components and explain the operation of Caterpillar electronically controlled engines.
§ Connect Cat ET to a machine or engine to view machine systems status, perform diagnostic tests, and calibrate system components.
§ Identify the components and explain the operation of the following monitoring systems:
Electronic Monitoring System (EMS)
Computerized Monitoring System (CMS)
Caterpillar Monitoring System
Vital Information Display System (VIDS)
Vital Information Management System (VIMS)
Use Data View for the purpose of performing
On – Machine diagnosis.
Course Activities and Design
This is an outcome-based course utilizing a lecture / lab format. This course includes videos,
assignments, demonstrations, lectures, and hands on learning. Course will be taught using Caterpillar equipment and curriculum. Course will be taught using Caterpillar equipment and curriculum.
