Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
The student will study the procedures for complete denture construction for application in DT 101. Detailed study of artificial teeth, tooth selection and setting procedures is included. Prerequisite - Must be accepted and registered in the Dental Laboratory Technology Program through application/testing process.
Intended Outcomes for the course
1. Articulate the history/philosophy/steps taken in denture design and the construction of dentures.
2. List steps in impression taking/cast production and the purpose of each.
3. List the types/construction of baseplates; the occlusal rim construction and the purpose of each.
4. Describe the different types of articulators, their uses and cast mounting procedures.
5. List tooth setting procedures and festooning of the wax-up.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Determined by interim written examination, lecture attendance, presentation, participation and successful completion of assignments and projects as assigned. Student will also receive a comprehensive final examination.

History/Purposes/Patient Psychology/Philosophy of Dentures. Impressions/Casts. Baseplate/Occlusal Rim design. Tooth Setting/Festooning individual cases. Post-dam/Palatal Relief design, purpose and application.
