Course Description

Covers history, current programs and practices, and future issues of early childhood education (ECE). Includes professionalism, historic and current issues, types of programs for young children, parent interaction, job opportunities, ethical/legal issues and community resources. Develops a professional philosophy. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Requirement for a Certificate Level II in Early childhood Education and Associate of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Education.
 

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Describe historical and current influences on the early childhood education field.
  2. Assess their current personal place in the ECE field.
  3. Formulate a professional plan for their future role in the ECE field.
