Course Description

Introduces the use, characterization, analysis, troubleshooting methods and programming of microcontrollers and embedded systems with a focus on application. Includes a 3-hour per week laboratory. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
 
1. Program, build and test a microcontroller system. 
2. Interface a microcontroller system to user controls and other electronic systems. 
3. Describe the internal architecture of microcontroller systems, including counters, timers, ports, and memory. 

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Assessment methods are to be determined by the instructor. Typically, in-class quizzes, exams and weekly homework assignments will be used. Laboratory assessment will be by program demonstration, code review, reports, and/or practical skills testing.
