Course Description

Develops skills in fiber optics connections and testing. Connector assembly and polishing techniques, system losses and testing. Fault location, repair and restoration are included. This class can be used towards Continuing Education Units for Oregon State electrical licensing purposes. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

  1. Describe the operation of related test equipment.
  2. Demonstrate connectorization techniques.
  3. Locate and repair breaks in Fiber Optics cabling.
  4. Properly set-up and use specialized test equipment.

In-class activities are made up of lecture, demonstrations, hands-on activities and discussions. See instructor syllabus for details.
