Course Description

Covers oil burner service and installation procedures, fuel oil principles, motors, fan couplings, nozzles, transformers burner construction, pumps, controls and troubleshooting procedures. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

This course is designed for working heating and service mechanics who have the responsibilities to maintain heat and ventilation oil fired furnaces.

Intended Outcomes for the course

demonstrate understanding of the essential requirements and operation of oil burner service and installation which include:

  • BTU ratings
  • Pump construction.
  • Diagnostic principles

Course Activities and Design

This is a lecture course with class participation.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Procedures will be discussed at the first class session and the instructor's grading policy will be referenced on the class syllabus. Assessment will be based on attendance, participation, personal improvement, homework, quizzes, and the final examination.
