Course Description

Examines human motion in physical activity and sport and the integration of anatomy and biomechanics. Explores the anatomical movements involved in a wide variety of motor and balance tasks, postural stability exercises, and overall exercise program design. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Interpret and relay to others the fundamental concepts of basic kinesiology and biomechanical principles.
  2. Explain the synergistic relationship between the appendicular and axial skeletal systems, joints and muscles to clients.
  3. Analyze sports and fitness activities to determine the anatomical joint actions, the muscle contractions required, and the mechanical principles related to the execution of those specific motor skills.
