Course Description

Covers skills that promote fitness and wellness for individuals and groups. Introduces marketing and self-promotion skills to build clientele using current industry marketing methods and strategies. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Develop and implement an activity or event to promote fitness or wellness for individuals and groups.
  2. Apply effective communication strategies to promote oneself in the fitness and wellness industry.
  3. Market and promote fitness or wellness services using current industry methods and strategies.

  1. Business marketing and promotional strategies for fitness and wellness. Best practices in marketing. 

  2. Positioning oneself for jobs in the industry.

  3. Interview preparation for positions in the fitness and wellness industry. Professionalism in oral, written, visual media, and social media communication methods.

  4. Best practices for continuing education. Staying current and relevant in marketing, promotion, and the fitness and wellness industry.

  5. Developing, promoting, and implementing appropriate fitness and wellness activities for target market groups and individuals. Experience with group project management, research and planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation.

  6. Oral and written communication strategies for promoting fitness and wellness activities, technology, and events.
