Course Description

Provides required practicum experience for completion of the yoga teacher sequence of courses. Site paperwork and requirements (applicant screening, FERPA, Title IX, etc.) must be completed prior to registration.

Addendum to Course Description

Students should be second term standing in the Yoga Teacher class series and have current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge gained in practicum to identify future employment opportunities in yoga instruction.

  2. Apply knowledge obtained from yoga teacher courses in a job setting.

  3. Design and lead yoga classes in a job setting.

  4. Meet learning outcomes specific to this practicum as mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor in advance through a written learning contract, and as appropriate to the credit awarded for this course.

  • Onsite evaluations.

  • Written employer evaluations.

  • Written assignments and progress reports with accompanying deadlines.

Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)

  1. Investigate various yoga teacher employment opportunities.

  2. Perform yoga instruction in group and/or individual settings.

  3. Design yoga classes for groups and/or individuals.

  4. Demonstrate skills related to on-the-job cooperation, teamwork, and customer service.

  5. Exhibit professional appearance, attitude, and behavior.

  6. Demonstrate proper and safe use and care of yoga equipment.

  7. Exhibit continual improvement in job related skills.

  8. Gain on-the-job experience.
