Course Description
Builds on the basic concepts of graphic design. Emphasizes color, including color theory, vocabulary, color schemes, and the effects of color. Focuses on identifying graphic styles and brainstorming techniques. Introduces 3-dimensional design. Emphasizes the design process, presentation, and industry standards.
Addendum to Course Description
A grade of "B" or higher is required for placement into the second year of the Graphic Design Program
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Create professional-level graphic design layouts
- Select and apply appropriate color for design projects based on color theory
- Apply professional design techniques to a three-dimensional form
Outcome Assessment Strategies
- Projects will be the major criteria for evaluation.
- Emphasis will be placed on professional standards including the following: project specifications, creativity, presentation, ability to meet deadlines and critique participation.
- Additional methods of assessment may include quizzes, exercises, assignments, and attendance.
