Course Description

Introduces theory, methods, and application of remote sensing and image analysis. Includes remotely sensed data acquisition and analysis, aerial photographs and photogrammetry, visual image interpretation, characteristics of various sensing systems, and digital image processing techniques. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Obtain and prepare data for remote sensing analysis.
  • Critically analyze and interpret remotely sensed data.
  • Use an understanding of remote sensing technology and data to examine cultural and environmental issues.

  • Be efficient and resourceful to problem solve both technical and process-oriented issues

Course Activities and Design

The materials in this course will be presented in a computer lab setting through classroom lecture, discussion, software demonstrations, peer critique, and computer-based assignments.  Other methods may be implemented such as small group work and in-class activities.
