Course Description
Introduces the concepts and practices associated with the social and emotional well being of infants and toddlers. Covers attachment theory, promoting parent-child relationships, culturally responsive caregiving practices, and Resources for Infant Educators (RIE). Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Identify the social and emotional milestones that emerge in infancy and toddlerhood.
- Describe the importance of the parent-child relationship in relation to secure attachment theory for infants and toddlers.
- Identify emotion regulation strategies as relevant to infants and toddlers.
- Review culturally responsive caregiving practices.
