Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
Upon completion of this course, students will be working toward competency in the following Oregon Child Welfare Care Work Competency areas:
Skill Set 3: Legal Aspects of Child Protection
3.2 Ability to gather, prepare, and document case information for court.
Skill Set 5: Fundamentals of Screening Procedures
5.1 Ability to receive and document information from reporting parties.
5.2 Ability to screen referrals to determine the level of priority for agency response.
Skill Set 6: Fundamentals of Case Planning and Family-Centered Casework
6.3 Ability to complete case documentation while organizing and maintaining family case records.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Apply basic tools of case management with families and children involved with child welfare systems.
- Analyze the ethical considerations of case management as applied to the needs of diverse populations in child welfare settings.
- Apply an understanding of case management processes through interviewing, active listening, consultation, and dissemination of critical information.
