Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
This course contains two modules:
Using the Machinery’s Handbook - The Machinery's Handbook is a very important reference tool for machinists. It includes information on ways to do things, useful charts of all kinds, and general machining related information. This module will provide you with an opportunity to become familiar with the Machinery's Handbook content and how to find needed information.
Machine Tool Safety - This packet will give you an overview of safe work practices, safe clothing for personal safety, fire prevention in the shop," and hand tool safety.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

Locate and document technical information using the Machinery's Handbook.

Apply knowledge of machine shop safety protocols (or processes) for material handling, safe hand tool use, safe grinding techniques, and general shop safety.

Communicate knowledge about safety routes, fire extinguisher location, safe assembly areas, and other safety related information.
Course Activities and Design
MCH 100 will be presented by means of audio-visual presentations, textbook study, and assigned research activities. Final written tests in both subject areas complete the course.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Students will be tested in both subject areas using a written final test. Test results will be reviewed with students when not acquiring 100% score in either area and student will correct incorrect results to assure adequate knowledge in these areas.

Student will communicate knowledge received in department tours about safety routes, fire extinguisher locations, safe assembly areas, and related information.
Students will respond to departmental tours to assure knowledge about required safety related issues with articulate and relevant conversations with peers and faculty.
