Course Description

Provides an opportunity to practice and enhance skills learned in Multimedia and Video Production classes. Promotes career objectives by linking course work with out-of-classroom internships or client-based projects. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Students will work in a variety of multimedia and video production scenarios improving skills in multimedia production, interpersonal communication, team building, and project management. Participation in the course can be beneficial for students who want on-the-job experiences which are related to their multimedia career goals. The student may be paid depending upon the policies of the employer. This course is not intended to be a job placement class. Students are to contact the supervisor. Arrangements are made between the student and with the supervisor/employer regarding the student's cooperative work and activities.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1. Apply the knowledge & skills gained from the multimedia program of study in an approved work setting.

2. Participate in client-directed projects.

3. Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines.

4. Document time and activities.

5. Produce summary of the work experiences.

Course Activities and Design

This course is designed to maximize learning through a cooperative work experience. Students will be supervised by a college cooperative supervisor and an on-site supervisor who is typically a company employee.


The student, coordinator/instructor, and employer develop a work experience plan which will meet the learning needs of the student. This plan provides a definition of on-the-job learning activities.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Assessment is designed to indicate achievement of the course outcome and performance tasks. The instructor will outline the methods used to assess student progress and the criteria for assigning a grade at the beginning of the course. Assessment will be based upon a combination of participation, attendance, and supervisory evaluations. Evaluation procedures will be discussed during preliminary meetings between the student, coordinator/instructor and employer.
