Course Description

Centers on how to effectively work with people in a helping relationship. Introduction to coaching and gaining hands-on experience being and working with a client. Coaching helps clients examine the way they do things as well as what they do. Build your coaching skills by focusing on five key principles of coaching: coaching listening, powerful inquiry, creating choice, balance and fulfillment. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

  1. Use effective coaching and performance improvement strategies to make the most of performance related discussions.
  2. Overcome the communication challenges that arise when addressing performance related issues.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

  • Various individual and/or group skill-building activities such as role-plays, case studies, or other exercises geared toward critical analysis of course concepts..
  • Written assignments or oral reports designed to integrate course material into personal experience or experiences of others.
  • Complete exams comprised of essay and/or objective questions, or an individual and/or team project or paper which requires integration, application, and critical examination of course concepts, issues, and themes.
