Course Description
Continues to develop the practical and verbal skills needed for self-defense in threatening situations. Further develops criminal and survival psychology as well as environmental awareness, verbal and physical defense, vital point striking, ground escape tactics, weapon and knife defense. Recommended: PE 162Q or prior knowledge of self defense. Audit available.
Addendum to Course Description
Students must provide their own hand wraps and gloves.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of this course students should be able to:
- Develop advanced techniques and knowledge of when to attempt defense against weapons and what techniques to use against guns, knives and other weapons.
- Demonstrate intermediate/advanced strategies to prevent attacks.
- Develop additional danger awareness, boundary establishment, and mental preparedness strategies for controlling adrenaline and fear.
- Break away from attacks using combined striking (knee, elbow), defense, escapes, clinching and grappling (guard, cross side, mount control), and other techniques.
Aspirational Goals
Continue to develop tactics and strategies of self-defense in preventing and surviving assaults.
