Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Improve overall physical conditioning through participation in Hiking, including but not limited to improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle fitness, and flexibility.
- Perform safe and effective skills and techniques for Hiking
- Apply learned terminology, skills and safety practices when Hiking
- Apply “Leave No Trace” practices and principles when Hiking
- Develop a lifelong fitness, health, and wellness program that includes Hiking.
- Experience the relationship of the mind, body and spirit.
Course Activities and Design
Class meets to discuss safety, gear, weather and environmental concerns when out for Hikes.
Class walks together at PCC to learn warm-up, pacing techniques, hydration techniques, fueling techniques, cool-down and stretching.
