Course Description

Designed to teach inexperienced skiers to link turns together with control on beginning and beginning/intermediate terrain. Introduces the fun of downhill skiing and emphasizes skills necessary to ski safely on appropriate terrain. Addresses the variables of weather and snow conditions. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Mt. Hood Timberline or Mt. Hood Meadows is the location
for this class. At a mandatory orientation students will receive information on necessary clothing, bus transportation, lift tickets, and lesson times. Skis, boots, and poles can be rented
at the ski schools.
Students will be grouped by skill level for lessons. Additional required practice time will be available before and after lessons. Teaching methods are consistent with the PSIA American Teaching System for Alpine Skiing.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Improve physical conditioning and develop a skill for maintaining lifelong health and fitness
  2. Ski with linked turns and control on beginning and beginning intermediate terrain
  3. Prepare for varying weather conditions and emergencies in an alpine environment.
