Course Description

Expands application of the values and skills of yoga. Includes intermediate/advanced yoga exercises for increased flexibility, improved health, relaxation, and reduced stress in daily living. Recommended: prior class in Hatha yoga. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

An average class includes practice of yoga asanas (exercises), breathing techniques, and balance activities through teacher directed activities. Includes options for various fitness levels. 

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Improve physical conditioning related to flexibility through participation in intermediate/advanced-level Hatha yoga.
  2. Apply modifications to intermediate/advanced-level asanas as needed for proper alignment and safety.
  3. Develop and maintain a personal yoga practice, applying intermediate/advanced-level Hatha yoga skills.

Aspirational Goals

  1. Recognize and apply the value and benefits of an on-going yoga practice.

  4. Interpret and apply the benefits of yoga postures and relaxation techniques

  7. Safety principles in Yoga
