Course Description

Covers more advanced skills, rules, and team strategies of flag football. Emphasizes individual and team offense and defense, offensive and defensive schemes, and kicking techniques as well as concepts of team organization and play at an advanced level. Dedicates considerable time to game-play. Recommended: PE 185T. Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Classes will be conducted in large groups for lecture, demonstration, participation and competitive play.  In addition, the class may be divided into small groups and individuals for skill development and practice.  Only rubber cleats will be allowed.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of flag football concepts including offensive and defensive schemes.
  2. Improve individual and team flag football skills with continued participation in the activity.

1.  Safe and effective warm-up, stretching and cool down exercises
2.  Football stance for line and backfield
3.  Blocking, forward passing and center snap
4.  Offensive schemes:  3,5,7 step passing, inside/outside zone plays
5.  Defensive schemes:  Defensive front  alignment and line stunts
6.  Punt, kick-off and kick receiving
7.  Variety of running and passing plays
8.  Defending the run
9.  Defending the pass
