Course Description
Addendum to Course Description
An elective satisfying the requirements of either a Paralegal Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science degree.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Apply basic concepts of real property law, including property rights, leasing, title review, land use regulations, easements, transfer of ownership, finance, foreclosure and other related real estate topics
Assess ownership interests in real property and implement proper methods of conveying real property
Apply land use regulations and policies with focus on zoning, non-conforming uses and variances
Draft real estate law pleadings and other relevant documents.
Course Activities and Design
Lecture and discussion of the topic assigned each week. Students are invited and expected to participate in discussions related to the topics assigned and should be prepared to respond to the instructor's questions. Students will be required to submit thoughtful, written
questions on that week's topic, as their assignment, for each class.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
Students' grades will be based primarily on a mid-term and final exam, and their understanding of course material as demonstrated by their written submissions, projects and classroom discussion.
