Course Description
Continues to practice structures and vocabulary presented in RUS 150 in a conversational format. Recommended: Enrollment in RUS 150. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
- Manages very simple interactions in highly predictable setting, using basic vocabulary and present tense.
- Begins to apply language-learning skills.
- Recognizes and approaches cultural differences with respect and open-mindedness.

- Greetings, introductions and leave-takings
- Russian name system
- Numbers 1-100
- Nationality and age
- Family members
- Professions
- Places in the city
- Personal interests and activities
- Gender system for nouns
- Possessive adjectives
- Introduction to case: the dative for age
- Prepositional case for location
- Nominative plural of nouns
- Present tense
- Accusative case for direct objects
Competencies and Skills:
- Manages introductions, greetings, leave taking and exchanges basic
- personal information in a culturally appropriate manner
- Says numbers and does basic math
- Asks for and gives directions using a map
- Describes self and others: interests, age and personal attributes
- Formulates simple questions and answers
- Identifies and names objects
- Comprehends slow native speech in a highly controlled/contextualized setting.
- Recognizes basic cultural differences
