Intended Outcomes for the course

Students will gain cultural awareness and appreciation for the following aspects of Russian culture and society:
- Russian families
- Childhood in Russia
- Cultural perspectives on communism and communist past.
- Stalinism and the Terror
- Love of the Russian homeland
- Emigration from Russia
- Russian views of the West
- Roles of women in Russian society
- Russian female gender roles.
- Ethnic groups and conflict in Russia
- Russian’s self-identity
