Course Description

Introduces diagnostic tooling and reference material for properly diagnosing and repairing the complex systems installed on Caterpillar machines. Focuses on repair logic and applications using a troubleshooting and diagnostic process to solve machine faults. Requires a dealer letter indicating secured internship at a participating Caterpillar Dealership. Prerequisites: DST 117.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion the course students will be able to:

  • Use appropriate Caterpillar service literature and diagnostic tooling to troubleshoot and repair problems in powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Course Activities and Design

This is an outcome based course utilizing a lecture/lab format. This course includes videos", assignments, demonstrations, lectures, and hands on learning.   Course will be taught using Caterpillar equipment and curriculum.
