Course Description

Introduces control panels and their functions. Covers how to identify, repair, replace, and adjust various control panels. Includes utilizing diagnostic equipment for programming control software. Prerequisites: DST 210.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of this course students should be able to:

  • Identify current and legacy control panels.
  • Discuss the major functions of a generator control panel.
  • Compare generator control panel features.
  • Remove and replace control panels.
  • Upgrade control panels.
  • Navigate wiring diagrams and ladder logic for control panels.
  • Adjust and configure a control panel.
  • Evaluate possible hardware changes needed for an upgraded control panel.
  • Identify the available data links on a control panel.
  • Connect and program annunciators.

Course Activities and Design

This is an outcome-based course utilizing a lecture/lab format. This course includes videos, assignments, demonstrations, lectures, and hands on learning. The course will be taught using Caterpillar equipment and curriculum.
